Software Partners, an Australian company, began more than 25 years ago back in 1983 in Sydney as the result of Hartley Computers closing their doors. Hartley was a pioneer of the Australian computer industry supplying computer software solutions accounting practices (HAPAS) and commercial businesses (SHEILA) with multiuser systems to run their businesses, Bricos was one of these companies. Daryl Saunders was Support Manager in Hartley’s Sydney office and the Sydney clients all bar begged him to setup a business to support them so they could continue to us the system known as SHEILA (System by Hartley for Entirely Integrated Ledger Accounting).
After a few of years Personal Computers came on the scene which made computing much more affordable so we decided it was time to build our own system that continued the approach of SHEILA. That’s when Ken Dawes of Accent Blinds came to us and asked us to build system that would track and cost blinds orders. The system we built we called GAP (General Accounting Package) and told everyone, “It filled the gap left by Sheila!”
Since those days we have rewritten the software several times to take advantage of new technologies. The latest version which has been in the field since 2007 uses all the latest Microsoft technologies and has generated more interest than any of our previous offerings.
