Many of our clients that use our accounting software have their computer equipment selected by us, and a Software Partners' employee is on site to deal with day-to-day support issues. We commenced business in 1983, following the closure of Hartley Computers, as a support/development company for the Hartley SHIELA (System by Hartley for Integrated Electronic Ledger Accounting) product. In 1988 development commenced on our software package, which we call GAP (General Accounting Package), which filled the GAP left by Hartley's product. This DOS based product was installed at several companies that had used the Hartley product on early multi-DOS systems. In 1998 we decided that it was time to move to a Windows version of GAP, which works on the same database as the DOS product and we still have customers who run a mix of DOS and Win applications today. Since moving to Windows, we have developed a web interface and made extensive use of barcoding. Business Partner is the result of a complete redevelopment of our GAP for Windows software using the latest Microsoft tools including Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005 and Office 2007. Over the years we have also developed other applications such as an Accommodation Information Management System and a Local Government Risk Management System.
